The open gardens event is organized by the Rotary Club of Sevenoaks Amherst in aid of Rockdale Housing Association in Sevenoaks.

Many gardeners have contributed their time and energy to making the event a success and we are grateful to all of them.

Similarly, U3A, The Sevenoaks Society, St Julians Club, many schools and Wellbeing Magazine have kindly helped us with promotion.

Finally, many volunteers from the town have given freely of their time to ensure that you have a couple of wonderful days and that Rockdale and other local charities supported by Rotary benefit by your generosity.

Rockdale Housing Association was set up over 60 years ago with the aim of providing housing and care for older people in Sevenoaks. It was largely the result of the determination of one woman – Miss Beatrice Wilson – a gifted physiotherapist with a vision to improve the quality of older people’s lives in the town.

Today Rockdale offers 123 fully self-contained apartments for older people at affordable rents, a further 28 leasehold apartments in Sevenoaks, and 14 apartments to rent in Tunbridge  Wells. Rockdale House Residential Care Home, with 32 residents has outgrown its space and facilities. A fundraising appeal is in progress to build a new care home to provide 48 en suite rooms, with modern facilities.
